We’ve all used the Street View tool on Google Maps. Every so often, you end up looking at your own home — in my case, my parents’ house, not Heidelberg. Most of the time, the only changes I notice are in the chicken coops or the lawn.

But this time, I found myself looking back at the camera.

My face was blurred, as you can see below. However, I think that if you know me, you could still easily recognize me. I have no memory of a Google car driving through our street.

I definitely didn’t want to end up on Google Maps, so I wrote an email to the official address for Germany and requested to be removed. This led to a very quick response — and shortly afterward, I was blurred again, this time not just my face.

However, it was just a rough blur at first, and I could still clearly see my silhouette. Now, it’s been blurred more thoroughly, and you can’t even make out that it’s a person, let alone who it is.
